Equipment Support for Rural Fire Departments
Brothers Helping Brothers
Brothers Helping Brothers helps small and rural fire departments throughout the U.S. with equipment needs by donating vital life-saving tools. Equipment grants are provided to fire departments and EMS organizations operating in any of the 50 states or the District of Columbia. Applicant organizations must serve a population of fewer than 10,000 people or have less than 30 employees, a majority of which is volunteer or paid per call personnel. Equipment grants as well as used equipment donations are provided. Requests may be submitted throughout the year. Youth Service-Learning Programs Funded
Youth Service America: Afterschool Grants
Youth Service America (YSA) supports a global culture of engaged children and youth committed to a lifetime of meaningful service, learning, and leadership. With support from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, YSA will award Afterschool Grants of up to $500 each to support youth-led service or service-learning in afterschool programs targeting middle and high school aged youth throughout the country. Applying programs must engage a minimum of 50 youth as volunteers in service or service-learning projects during the 2021-2022 academic year. At least 50% of youth engaged must be from low-income, underserved communities. Applicants may work locally, regionally, or statewide. The application deadline is July 30, 2021. Grants Promote Solutions Using Technology to Help the Underserved Worldwide
Cisco Global Impact Cash Grants
Cisco Global Impact Cash Grants support nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and worldwide with scalable, replicable, and sustainable solutions that use Internet technology to benefit individuals and communities around the world. In the Education category, Cisco supports technology-based solutions and education delivery models that improve student performance and engagement in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The Economic Empowerment category focuses on programs that encourage employment success, entrepreneurship, and long-term self-sufficiency by providing access to skills, knowledge, and financial products and services via technology-based solutions. Through the Critical Human Needs category, Cisco grants help overcome the cycle of poverty and dependence by supporting organizations that address the basic needs of underserved communities. Efforts to Advance U.S. Muslim Communities Supported
Pillars Fund
Pillars Fund amplifies the leadership, narratives, and talents of Muslims in the United States to advance opportunity and justice for all. Pillars supports nonprofit organizations working in or closely alongside Muslim communities throughout the U.S. Support is provided to organizations that address one or more of the following issues: Reimagining Public Safety, with a focus on work that strives to end the unjust criminalization of Muslim communities; Promoting Mental Health and Wellness, with a focus on work to build mental healthcare systems that better serve Muslim communities; and Building Civic Power, with a focus on work that supports Muslim leaders and ultimately transforming our democracy to one that serves us all. Funds for Efforts to Address Inequities in Education for Minnesota's Children
Ciresi Walburn Foundation for Children
The Ciresi Walburn Foundation for Children is dedicated to promoting education and equitable opportunities for all of Minnesota's children and youth. The Foundation provides Annual Grants to nonprofit organizations, higher education institutions, and K-12 schools that support children and families throughout the state. The Foundation's focus is on funding efforts to eliminate inequities in the educational system, including early learning programs, education policy and advocacy, programs that support educators, high performing K-12 schools, and wrap-around programs focused on children and families in high-needs neighborhoods. The letter of inquiry window will open on June 28 and close on July 30, 2021; invited full proposals will be due October 2, 2021. Grants Foster Historic Preservation and Wildlife Rehabilitation in Oregon and Southern Washington
The Kinsman Foundation
The mission of the Kinsman Foundation is to encourage the enjoyment of life through traditional Oregonian and American values. The Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations in Oregon and southern Washington that address the following priority areas: The Historic Preservation grant category supports the preservation, rehabilitation, restoration, and reconstruction of historic buildings, structures, and related sites. The Wildlife Rehabilitation grant category primarily supports wildlife rehabilitation programs offering urgent care to injured and orphaned wildlife native to Oregon and Washington. Small Grant requests of up to $5,000 are accepted throughout the year. Conventional Grant requests of over $5,000 must be submitted by August 1, 2021. (The Betty Kinsman Fund for arts, culture, and humanities has a separate application process.) Application guidelines for both grant categories are available on the Foundation's website.

Support for LGBTQ Organizations in the Baltimore and DC Regions
BHT Foundation
The BHT Foundation supports nonprofit organizations serving the LGBTQ/SGL and HIV/AIDS communities in the Baltimore, MD/Washington, DC, metropolitan area. The Foundation focuses on organizations that demonstrate positive impact on the community that they serve and the greater LGBTQIA+ communities. This includes organizations that serve typically underfunded or underrepresented groups, organizations that are filling a vital gap or need in community services, and organizations that create community and safe spaces. Specific areas of interest include programs and services that support individuals and groups affected by HIV/AIDS, and programs and services that support LGBTQIA+ youth age 24 and under. Grants of up to $3,000 are provided. The application cycle for 2021 will open on July 7 and close on August 6. Visit the Foundation's website for more information.

Justice-Related Programs in Ohio Funded
Ohio State Bar Foundation
The Ohio State Bar Foundation is committed to promoting public understanding of the law and to encouraging improvements in the justice system throughout Ohio. The Foundation's core values include a commitment to a society served by a fair, impartial, and accessible system of justice. The Foundation's grant program assists nonprofit organizations with law-related projects that promote the pursuit of justice, or promote public understanding of the rule of law. Along with regular grants, the Foundation also offers the Racial Justice Initiative, which supports projects that address systemic racism that hinders the pursuit of justice for historically marginalized communities in Ohio. The application deadlines are February 15 and August 15, annually. (Potential grant applicants are required to participate in a pre-submission conference with Foundation staff prior to completing a grant application.) Funds Help Create Jobs for Low-Income Individuals
Department of Health and Human Services
The Community Economic Development Projects program supports innovative projects to enhance job creation and business development for low-income individuals. The program seeks to address objectives such as decreasing dependency on federal programs, chronic unemployment, and community deterioration in urban and rural areas. The application deadline is July 12, 2021.

Opportunity Promotes STEM Equity
National Science Foundation
The Racial Equity in STEM Education program supports bold, ground-breaking, and potentially transformative projects addressing systemic racism in STEM. Proposals should advance racial equity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education and workforce development through research (both fundamental and applied) and practice. The program seeks proposals led by, or developed and led in authentic partnership with, individuals and communities most impacted by the inequities caused by systemic racism. The upcoming deadlines are July 13 and October 12, 2021.

A new report by CIVICUS entitled the 2021 State of Civil Society Report analyzes how contemporary events and trends are impacting on civil society and how civil society is responding to the major issues and problems of the day. This is the tenth edition of the report, which focuses on civil society action and developments in 2020, looks back over ten years of civil society activity, and highlights key ideas for action in civil society in 2021 and beyond.
